🎹 'World Piano Day' - 28th March

Here is a short CST activities page to help celebrate 'World Piano Day' on 28th March.

Begin with asking who enjoys listening to the piano?

Can anyone play the piano? Did anyone pass their grades?

Have members a favourite popular music piano led track?

How about a classical piano piece?

Ask members to compare and contrast classical and modern styles as they work through the questions and music clips.

You could also use the classical session as a music appreciation and relaxation session.

* I've added a 'Spotify Playlist' link below ...

IDIOMS

Here are musical idioms for members to complete together. We find that this helps inspire confidence for the rest of the session.

Aunt JOANNA (Cockney rhyming slang)

Play by EAR

The organ grinder's MONKEY

Struck the right NOTE

Like a broken RECORD

Face the MUSIC

Playing second FIDDLE

Before starting, did anyone watch 'The Piano' on Channel 4 recently. Lucy, a blind and neurodivergent girl played Chopin's 'Nocturne', much to the stunned amazement of internationally acclaimed pianist Lang Lang.
